Overland Travel

FJoverland is now “Overland Travel” – my blog on my dreams, the planning, the preparation and the journey to explore western Canada…

Why the change?

I had every intention of travelling in our 2012 Toyota FJcruiser (see the build pages on this vehicle) and hence the original name of this site.

However I didn’t predict that I would change this vehicle before our first major trip!

So now “Overland Travel” will be the place I record my journey as we head to the Rockies and beyond this summer.

  1. Awesome vehicle. The 4runners are a great platform for overlanding, especially if you prefer Toyotas. The guys over on Xpedition Overlanding use them alongside Toyotas Tacoma and now Landy 200. I look forward to reading about your trip.

Why did you decide to get rid of the FJ?

We’re running a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited that we are building for overland and off-road excursions. Right now it is pretty much stock. We’ll have a build page set up soon. You might check it out. If you check out the projects tab on our blog you’ll see the modifications and fixes we’ve made to it already.

On a side note, while Overland Travel will tell people what you’re interested in it isn’t all that unique. You might want to consider another name for your blog and work overland into the tag line. Just something to consider. The name of your blog won’t stop me from following your journey!

  2. Thanks for your comment. I was offered a great deal on the FJ and the new 4Runner and that’s why I made the move. The FJ was great but limited in interior space and storage capacity and didn’t have much range for the journeys I eventually want to tackle.
