#Fix for #Apple system errors

If you find that you are experiencing ongoing issues with your Mac system such as the following

  • Speaker volume
  • Screen resolution
  • Startup disk selection
  • Recent kernel panic information

then resetting the system “PRAM” (Parameter Random Access Memory) and “NVRAM” (Non-Volative Random Access Memory) may be a solution.

I recently carried out a full reset of both PRAM and NVRAM as part of a fix for a Finder error where typed text would revert. This affected the renaming of folders, typing using Apple’s Notes and even affected MS Word.

In the end, after mutliple searches on the regular Apple forums, switching off bluetooth to discount keybaord errors and even reinstalling some software; I opted for a full “nuke & pave” strip down and rebuild of my iMac.

I will post about this full reinstall at a later date.

Please make sure that you have a full backup of your user files as a minimum before resetting system settings.
