Smartvoll, a Austrian design firm, created a new market space in Salzburg from a former armoured vehicle hangar.

The former space used to manufacture tanks for the Second World War and the designers have continued the industrial aesthetic with repurposed shipping containers. There is a richness to the space with the way that these containers are stacked with a monochromatic colour scheme against the original building’s brickwork.

We have developed a room-in-room system that works with objects in all areas — and looks for order in the chaos.

The designers than added a further dimension with mirrors and tiles on each of the visual planes creating further depth  to the spaces.

Smartvoll. It is not merely Philipp Buxbaum and Christian Kircher. Smartvoll is a team of unconventional thinkers and visionaries. Our focus lies unequivocally on the architectonic design process. Having the goal in mind, we always pursue new ways and try out diverging pathways to ultimately surprise with new and extraordinary solutions. No thought should be left unthought when you want to turn a vague starting situation into succinct clarity. The creative freedom during the design process is being completed by a structured realism during the realisation. Although, what should never be missing, is an unpretentious environment where you can have fun and laugh.
